Shine Diamond Liyah Shine

There was never a time in Diamond Liyah’s life that she can
remember where she wasn’t singing or dancing; this love for music is what led her to become a recording artiste. Born Aaliyah Williams, the fast rising artiste hails from the east end of the island of Jamaica, in a community called Harbour View. She discovered her love for music when she was very young and decided
from early on in her life that she wanted to pursue it as a career
option. Life of course, was not the easiest, but like the diamond that
goes through extreme conditions to shine, so did this burgeoning
talent.

At the age of 16, Diamond Liyah got her first introduction to music. Through her cousin Ssky Blu she was able to record her debut single, “It Nuh Easy” under the name Dj Alli. After getting a taste of music she decided then and there that she wanted to pursue it as a viable career and later adopted the moniker Diamond Liyah. Diamond Liyah has moved on to release singles such as “Mothers Crying”, “Hold On,” “Haffi Mek It One Day” and “Padlock.” She also boasts collaborations with Gully Bop and Ssky Blu. She has worked tirelessly on perfecting her craft but took a hiatus and is now back, and even stronger than before. Her latest single “Blue Tick” has been doing extremely well and has been hailed by music insiders as a potential hit. Her forthcoming singles “Streets” and “Hey John,” produced by Above Grung is set to whet the appetites of music lovers across the world. It doesn’t stop there for Diamond Liyah, as she has another potential hit in the works called “Breathless.”

Her genre-fluid music encompasses a mixture of traditional
Jamaican Dancehall/Reggae rhythms combined with writing and vocal arrangements that showcase her jazzy, pop and edgy side. Her approach to music shows depth of character and she prides herself for always making music that is relatable, purposeful and sonically pleasing. When all is said and done Diamond Liyah will continue along this journey and ultimately create an indelible imprint in the music industry.
