Treasure Self Love Lila Ike Four Lighters

Christiana, Manchester native and Reggae’s new luminary Lila Ike released her highly anticipated debut album ‘Treasure Self Love’ on August 22, 2025. This soothing contemporary reggae project takes us through Lila’s personal trials more so than any previous work she’s ever done. It’s surely one of the top releases this year for Reggae, and I’ll also make the claim to say it’s one of the best albums this year. Lila takes us through what it means to treasure self love, something most people struggle to understand, and will not understand until later on in their life. “Scatter” seems like the cliche intro to present day Jamaican projects – a redemption and belligerent feeling that you can overcome any challenge. Though uplifting and drawing inspiration from Psalms 68:1, the tone doesn’t spark as much of a flame as the other songs to come.

The singles were all top tracks, especially the features from American artists Joey Bada$$ and H.E.R. Where the album truly elevated were from tracks 5-7. The upbeat tempo of “All Over The World” & “Romantic” not only shifted the mood of the album but tapped into traditional reggae flavours and showcased Lila’s diversity as a musician. Songs like “All That & More” and “Serious” were the high points for this album. They ask deep questions revolving around self-worth, pain, fear to uncover within yet also gives affirmation to keep marching on. “Love In A Lovely Way” is a near perfect outro which ties everything together, bringing us back to the album’s title. A nice melodic song which awakes nostalgia within core Lila fans that would be familiar to her singing over an acoustic guitar. Overall the album gives us a nice blend of Reggae, R&B, Souls and modern sounds to piece together a well crafted body of work that could be timeless years to come.
