EARTH AND THE FULLNESS

Exploring Earth and The Fullness

It wouldn’t be far fetched to say that there would be no way to speak about the history of the live music scene without mentioning the St. Andrew district of Bull Bay, the beach side surf club/entertainment space known as Jamnesia and the Wilmot family who lives and operates on site. Bull Bay being the picturesque rural community by the Caribbean Sea which, because of its particular location, is often times forgotten by the majority of the other residents of the parish that houses Jamaica’s capital and its immediate adjacent parishes. Has unearthed a particular gem that has helped to not only helped to give the likes of Chronixx, Protoje, Nomadzz, Yeza, Blvk H3ro, Raging Fire, Keida each their collective start on the live music stage but has organically built a reggae in house band that is now ready to bring their particular sound on to a world stage. The Wilmots’ have always been musically inclined with their patriarch, Billy Wilmot also known as Billy Mystic, having his own experience with a band with the Mystic Revealers in the 80s into the late 90s. In addition to the Mystic Revealers, Billy decided to use his home as meeting place for young singers and musicians to come together and gain experience in front of a live audience and, if they are lucky, build a fan base.

What not even Billy, given his mystical nature, could have envisioned was two of his sons themselves forming a band that would be considered good enough to follow in his footsteps as a full fledged recording act while being unique enough to find their own sound. Completely independent of what has been done before. Billy’s sons: Inilek, Icah and Ishack formed, From the Deep with Davion James on the drums being added to the melody a few years after. It was From the Deep that were the house band started when Jamnesia Sessions began in 2007 and subsequently provided the backing live tracks for all those aforementioned artists who graced that particular stage/proving ground.

It was after that when Earth and the Fullness was formed in 2014 and after ten years of performing at places like the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival and Skyline Levels while still being the resident sound of the surf club, Earth and the Fullness are now ready to gift to world “Blue Mantle” – a 9 track journey into the moods and motivations of band.

Earth and the Fullness consists of brothers Inilek and Icah Wilmot, and drums, Davion James, as well as collaborations with Omar Francis, Graham Fenton, Jeremy Ashbourne and led by singer-songwriter Olivia Wilmot – creative director of Earth and the Fullness Ishack Wilmot’s wife. Blue Mantle is an album about feeling, which fits right in with Earth and the Fullness’ stance that inner healing is just as important as social healing. The energy of the music says, you are loved, be calm, go within, find your light, and shine it bright to the world.
