My Truth, My Journey Zamunda

Executive produced by Michael ‘Boxy’ Howell, ‘My Truth, My Journey’ does not stray from the tried and true foundation of reggae. Zamunda’s voice permeates

It is always thought that somehow it is the versatility of the reggae sound that over the other native genres that has emerged over the Caribbean. However, there seems to be a certain type of backlash in reference to, what many are saying, as a stagnation with the new music being produced overall. However, unlike most things, staying in one place, with the creation and delivery of music, might be as beneficial as being always on the move. Zamunda’s ‘My Truth, My Journey’ might be one such case. With a sound that many might complain is somewhat stuck in the past, it is that very same sound that helps the album soar as a true representation of what seemingly will never seem dated or out of style – real reggae music. Executive produced by Michael ‘Boxy’ Howell, ‘My Truth, My Journey’ does not stray from the tried and true foundation of reggae. Zamunda’s voice permeates through the complete tracklist, never lacking for emotion or purpose. The album kicks off with the potent “No One But You Lord” and never eases up on the overall messaging. Songs like: “No Gun Man”, “Tempah” and “Can’t Get Me Down” further accentuates the commentary that Zamunda has chosen to elaborate on. “Love Love”, “Care For Me” and “Girl With You” reveal a certain reverence for true romantic connection. While the final tune “Debut” is a unique look at Zamunda’s experience touring around Europe promoting himself and his music. In addition to Boxy, production work was done by Xavier Lek Farré, Lynford Marshall, Gregory Morris, Fumiaki Ogata and Robert Annakie.
