King Cruff – WHAT HAVE I’DON EP review
With a nom de guerre that belies his true ambition, King Cruff took his first notable step
The hardest thing in business is to setup a succession plan. An arrangement that would see generations upon generations benefit from not only being a part of a family’s main business but be afforded the chance to expand upon it. This is the reality of many within the Marley lineage. With the recording industry being the main building block for all of the Marleys’ subsequent venture successes, it should be lauded when someone from that brood chooses to attempt to achieve their version of greatness from underneath the weight of such a heavy name. With a nom de guerre that belies his true ambition, King Cruff took his first notable step into the industry that helped to make his patronym a worldwide marquee with the release of his EP ‘WHAT HAVE I’DON’. King Cruff utilized the likes of Banx & Ranx, !llmind, Natural High Music, (Circa ELEVEN – Mark Myers & Philip Myers), A.J Hall and Don Mills for the production of ‘WHAT HAVE I’DON’ and was blessed with features from his cousin Skip Marley, Stonebwoy, Jag. Huligin and Solo Yt. Of the six tracks, the back to back combination of “SHEDOENEED” featuring Stonebwoy and Jag. Huligin and “TORONTO CONDO GIRLS” featuring Solo Yt are the ones that currently seem to be ones poised to make the required impact an release like this needs. That being said it would hurt to give this EP an once over as this should be just the beginning of King Cruff’s reach into the world of the recording music history.
