Heavyweight Rockaz debuts album

Together with noted bass player, and long time musical collaborator, Welshbass; Unga has formed Heavyweight Rockaz with an eye of bringing their collective brand of music to the global stage.

There are not many drummers who are adept at both being behind of the set and at the front of the stage. To my mind only Dave Grohl formerly of Nirvana and Foo Fighters, Phil Collins and Roger Taylor of Queen and Sheila E, have had true sustained success as drummers, singers and even songwriting; Jamaican drummer, singer, songwriter Unga Barunga certainly has the chops to replicate the success of the aforementioned. Together with noted bass player, and long time musical collaborator, Welshbass; Unga has formed Heavyweight Rockaz with an eye of bringing their collective brand of music to the global stage. As a group, Heavyweight Rockaz has certainly set standards with their singles over the years with a certain few such as ‘Raggy Road’, ‘Sweet Sensation’ feat. Jesse Royal and ‘We Are Builders’ coming for special commendations from fans and critics alike. So there were many anticipating the release of Heavyweight Rockaz first album, and we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to get a few minutes to talk to the group before media appointments and other obligations would make it more difficult to set a schedule. What follows is a quick rundown by the group of how far they have come and what should fans of Heavyweight Rockaz should look for in the near future.

Who, outside of the ‘Heavyweight Rockaz’ are most responsible for this album’s release?

Very Interesting question because we are all over this album as producers writers & vocalist. But it wouldn’t be possible without the Most High who have given us the gift & inspiration to create this body of work that we are now sharing with the world.   That aside, we would like to thank Zojak World Wide for making sure that everyone has access to the album globally ; our extended Notis Family all of our supporters who from day one believe and encourage us on this journey not to give up Family members, fellow artist & musicians, engineers, managers, promoters even the haters encouraged us to keep climbing.

I personally always thought of your music as movie soundtrack or advertising worthy. Are you open to having your song used in such a manner and do you have a preference of the type of message your songs are used for?

Thank you for sharing that thought, we feel the same, most definitely we are open to this.
The messages in our songs are clear and we don’t see people using a song with a message that is incompatible with their own.
