Sanley Spence known to the Jamaican music fraternity as Sanley Cruz was born to his late dad, Winston Spence former member of the group the Melodians famous for their debut single ‘Chatty Chatty Mouth’ and mother Icilyn Scott on the 17th of July 1972, in the Providence District of St
Elizabeth. The youngest of three brothers his love for music started from the age of eleven. Having left St Elizabeth when he was a week old with his mother the family resided in Rockfort Kingston 2, where his older brothers known as Sheriff (Courtney Reid) and Marshall (Gary Reid) took to the
stage themselves.

In the 80’s the family was relocated to Ensom City Spanish Town. Growing up in Ensom City he was being inspired by his older brothers whom at that time he considered to be two of the best acts in the parish. It was at this time through hanging out with his brothers that Sanley Cruz was introduced to the music business. During that time he met some known artists, Papa San and Major Worries. That was when Sanly Cruz started his djing for creation sound with Papa San, Dirtsman, Flaty Ranks where he was dubbed Little San.

Although Sanley Cruz was hanging around the professionals he did not take it as a career. It was more of a hype for him. However after performing at a show at the well know Cactus nightclub then he was well received by the audience. There was an article the next day in the papers about the
event which prompted his interest further. Not long afterwards he performed at James Hill in St Ann where he met Barrington Levy who also was very impressed with his performance.

After doing some recordings at the Top Secret Studio in Portmore where he met Vybes Kartel he left Jamaica for the United Kingdom where he spent a few years. On his return to Jamaica he started working in the recording studio which he set up in Spanish Town. He then work as a studio engineer
working with some of the top reggae and dancehall artists doing dub plates. After spending time in the studio Sanley Cruz decided it was time to return to his singing. It was always his dream to have a hit song hence ‘Where did I go wrong’. This will be the first of many hits to come.
