Cashtro Troy, otherwise known as Ricardo Weir, was born in Kingston Jamaica and raised in Spanish Town with his sister and cousins and other extended family. Cashtro’s passion for music began during his early years in Primary school and continued all throughout high school when he made friends with other music loving classmates. While attending Jonathan Grant, Cashtro would create tunes and beat on the school desks during lunch. He and his friends often created new beats and lyrics of their own, along with those based on the hit tunes of their favorite dancehall artists.
Cashtro then began his music journey after graduating from High school. Feeling confident in this career move, he then decided to settle into his journey as a Dancehall artist. He gained onstage experience from traveling and performing around the island.He also got some airplay while putting out numerous projects on various media outlets such as iTunes, SoundCloud and YouTube among others.
Working with other upcoming artists and producers helped to develop his sound even more. His sound has been described as melodic and original. He’s a very dexterous lyricist, with an authentic and up to date flow.
As an artist, Cashtro is relentless in his pursuit to notoriety and works on music tirelessly in Maryland where he resides. His current single, “Sugar Cane,” was produced under the Maryland record label called Kapah Records. And though, “Sugar Cane” is currently causing waves, Cashtro is hard at work on his new projects that are soon to be released. His YouTube hit, “Addicted is also trending with 8.8 million views. A music video for Sugar Cane will be released on his YouTube and Vevo page and the song itself aired on roots FM radio, premiered by DJ Phill and Suncity DJ Weed Seed.
