Blvk H3ro

Newest addition to the musical roster and landing on the City Splash stage this year, Jamaica’s very own Blvk H3ro aka Black Hero, makes his London debut alongside a galaxy of stars from the world of Reggae, Dancehall and Afro-beats.

I have been following his career with interest for a while now and know that he has been making music his whole life and, on a professional level, for the last decade. His sound, an experimental and refreshing cocktail of traditional and contemporary Reggae is expertly blended with a mix of Hip-hop and Dancehall elements and is sure to satisfy the musical thirst of the solid fan base he has in the UK.

It’s no surprise then, that the self styled ‘Metahuman’ (In DC Universe, a metahuman is a human with extraordinary abilities) has seen this versatile artiste score major collabs with the likes of eclectic music collective Equiknoxx, Dancehall artiste and MOBO Award winner Skillibeng and most recently, with Afro Roots, Ghanaian singer and Grammy-nominee, Rocky Dawuni.

The latter resulted in H3ro’s first Grammy nomination for their work on ‘Neva Bow Down’

This accolade further evidenced the global reach and positive impact of his music, as well as his commitment to spreading positive messages worldwide, notably, in the last five years. Messages that he is eager to share on the City Splash stage.

Recently, I caught up with the The Immortal Steppa, to gauge his vibe on the huge announcement that he will be touching City Splash in the next few weeks:

lb: First up: Congrats! Such good news to hear that you are part of such a cool line up for City Splash.

BH: Thank you mama. It’s been my dream to come there since my first BBC 1 Xtra interview with Seani B.

lb: “When are you coming to the UK” has got to be your most asked question.

BH: My god. That question. I have been asked that question for the last six years lol!

lb: I may have been guilty of spamming you with that question too.

BH: London is actually my highest streaming city which used to baffle me. But thanks to my manager, Lesley Cooney and my team…they just took a chance and believe y’know.

lb: It’s no surprise about London. It’s going to be EPIC.

BH: I can’t wait. I want to enjoy the place, see the people, meet new fans and friends, and eat some food. And I think we hope everyone will feel the passion and love coming from my team and I.

With his dynamic music catalog and engaging personality, Blvk H3ro is an artiste that is on the ascent.

And this writer can’t wait to see what dimension his music will take us to next. One thing I know, wherever it is, we’re gonna be in for wild ride!
