NexDock

Occasionally there comes along a gadget so cool, it undoubtedly proves we are indeed living in the 21st century. Introducing NexDock, a device that turns your phone into a laptop, from the company bearing the same name. But wait, didn’t Samsung launch their DEX application in August 2019? That one desktop-like environment for devices to connect to monitors. The short answer is yes. However, NexDock stands out from products like HP’s Lap Dock through exceptional attention to detail and functionality. Definitely a concept that’s been here, just a more polished utility based one. Producing a device that could see some companies rethinking their approach to phone interactivity with devices.

The NexDock is built into a sexy yet sleek aluminum body featuring an edge to edge backlit keyboard.. Provides a quality HD display fit into a 13.3 inch IPS,1920×1080 FHD resolution 16:9 aspect ratio screen. The model  has no CPU, memory or Operating System. Comes with a variety of wires and ports, including the now popular Type C USB. The goal of the NexDock is to be easy enough to connect with any of the more recent Samsung and Huawei phones. Just make sure you have at least the Desktop Mode feature on the phone you want to try to connect with before you techies get reckless.

It is relatively cheap and sells around the same price range as a Chromebook. It surprisingly has a  decent 51 Wh 7.6 V, 6,800 mAh battery. Easily guaranteeing 7 hours of solid use at max settings. It roughly weighs 3lbs. The applicability of this to multiple situations in the household alone makes me incentivized to see it’s future place in the technological sphere of hub devices.

SODAPOP: Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker

A Scandanavian company found a fascinating way to turn their bluetooth speakers into a bass beatbox, SODAPOP. Simply screw the speaker onto an empty bottle, or their provided empty bottle. Boom! Improved bass and sound anywhere your local beverage may be laying around. It fits most soda and water bottles.  With all the environmental concerns SODAPOP is one welcomed alternative to littering I could vibe with.

SODAPOP crunches out a nice 30 hours of play and is certified splash proof. The threaded cork  comes lined and protected from liquids with it’s own rubber covering. A point to note is the space needed in the bottle. Less space , the less boombastic the SODAPOP performs. There is also an upper limit to the enhancements it provides. A 2 litre bottle won’t be much different than a 500ml bottle.

 Samsung Galaxy Buds+

Samsung is hitting us with combos of items that would make any tech enthusiast’s maw drool.   Samsung Galaxy Buds+ are here. A bit overshadowed by their pairing with the Samsung S20 phones, Samsung improved upon the previous iteration in no small measure. You get 13 instead of 6 hours of ear time and of course 3 mics for impeccable sound filtration. They even charge in less than half the time with 15 minutes of charge giving you roughly 1.7 hours of play.

The chief selling point of the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ is the fact that it is Qi Compatible. What I mean is, it is reverse charging compatible. This allows you to do these nifty things like lay them on the back of your phone in the case and viola, charged. If you want one of the best wireless earbuds around in relation to battery efficiency and look this is the one for you.

Samsung goes the route of shiny with a pearlescent finish on the outer sides mimicking the back finish of the Galaxy S20. The Galaxy Buds+ is capable of adjusting the air tips for adjustable ear comfort. Noise cancellation, noise filtration and a unique new UI for the app makes this earpiece standout. It is simply the previous Galaxy Buds, but better in every way with different colors.

EXO Magnetic Powerbank

In the round up we have the sweet Kickstarter product, EXO Magnetic Powerbank. The catch is that it converts any phone case into a chargeable powerbank and it is wireless! It utilizes a thin magnetic strip that you would simply slip beneath your phone case’s lower half. In the box you get an EXO Juice Card, Type C+ Micro USB Charger Cable. Also, a  Magnetic Keyframe.

The one major drawback of the EXO Magnetic Powebank is that it may bulge inside of thinner cases. So be mindful of that. It does work between all brands of phones in case you were wondering guys. The upper limit of charge is 5000mAh. Relatively decent. It’s thin and light weight and is really meant for those with portability in mind. The EXO Magnetic Powerbank won’t give you more than one and a half full charge. It is not fast charge capable but it is interesting and niche.
