Live From Kingston by CaosArtistry

I have heard about Live From Kingston for many months, but never got a chance to do a feature on this event. When I heard that they had an all females lineup for their Christmas show, I had to pass through to see what it was like.
When I got to the event, of course it was jam packed, and filled with Reggae hungry patrons ready for entertainment, but what I really enjoyed seeing was the smiles on the patrons faces, excited for more.
I weaseled my way to the front of the stage to be able to take in the likes of Miss Naomi Cowan who was currently performing. What peaked my interest at first was a glare that came from her jacket when the lights came on.

Decked in a trench like grey jacket, styled with a mesh tank, white ripped shorts and her timberland boots.
Naomi came out with a nice futuristic touch as the icing on the cake of her outfit. Giving us a nice mixture of what I would call reggae with a hint of pop style, Naomi had the crowd grooving to her music and her style.

Hosted by the alluring Kamila Mcdonald dressed in a denim jumpsuit and platforms, she introduced us to the soulful and eclectic Sevana. This may have been my second time seeing her live, but I didn’t worry whether I would be entertained with her set, because she never fails to create a transcendental experience with her music.

What I was especially interested to see, was what she had put together to accentuate her performance. What I especially love about our Jamaican style culture, is that individualism is always a core ingredient.
The concept of Sevana’s style is one of like a black princess with an vintage soul. I believe this allows her to mix her looks and still come off graceful and chic most times.

I personally was a fan of some but not all of the pieces used to compile her full look, however, the red scarf and gold medieval like top added a very vintage and classy touch to the outfit that I likes. As to the colour combination and cohesiveness of the full look, I don’t believe she nailed it this time. But don’t worry Sevana, i still have much love for you.

Once we were mesmerized by Sevana and her set, next came the genna for the night, Lila Ike. So here is my thing with the female style in Jamaica, it needed a big shift and expansion and artiste’s like Lila Ike shows that there is nothing wrong with being gender fluid and owning your style. I appreciate this tremendously.

I was impressed with the direction in which she went with her style choice for the night, there was thought to her look and the reaction and place she wanted to take the audience as soon as she touched the stage.

Suited in a striped pink and burgundy suit, burgundy turtleneck and a classic burgundy platform shoes. Not only did she top this off with her curls and shades but home girl rolled out the grills!.. Yup, grills. She straight up G’d up the show. Props for that move Lila, keep it up.

During her set, Lila brought out Jaz Elise to give the audience a taste of her magic. Rocking a red and black themed outfit, coordinated down to her shades, Elise added real flavour to the set.

After the electrifying set of Lila Ike and Jaz Elise, I realized that the crowd was pumped for the final act of the night, the Original Koffee. If we know anything it’s that Koffee’s style is one that is very simple.. I personally feel that her style will mold and grow with her career.

There is a lot of potential there. Not only can she become an icon in music but she also has the potential to become the real androgynous ingredient that Jamaican style culture needs right now, especially mixed with our lifestyle and culture, I believe it makes a great fit.

Simplicity is key and is at the base of every style choice, puma was the choice for Koffee that night. Starting with a black tank, ripped black jeans, mixed with a burgundy mesh puma Jacket but the added touch was the suede burgundy and gold puma sneakers. Nothing says ,modest like good fabric texture combination, it does more than you.

Catch you on the flip side….
