Alton G Campbell (Born October 25,1977), better known by his stage name XKhraig (XK), is a singer and songwriter who hails from Papine, Jamaica. XK was introduced to music as early as age ten by family members who influenced him to join the church choir. As the years went by he developed an endearment for singing and the art of writing, however, his parents Newtown and Damarine Campbell ensured education was at the forefront of his development. XK attended the Ardenne High School and later Mico Evening College where he studied Social Biology and if not for music, he would have pursued a career as a mathematician or an education psychologist.

While attending Mico he co-founded an Acapella gospel group called “Choice” The seven-member male group became very popular in the 90’s and won numerous local talent competitions which later led to them representing Jamaica in a Caribbean Gospel Festival.

In the late 90’s he moved to Olympic Gardens and while living in Tower Hill he would spend the better part of each day in the studios vibe-sing. He used to frequent Anchor studios, where he was introduced to Dr Marshal – a top engineer, however, his home studio was King Spesh on Henderson Avenue in Olympic Gardens. It was during this period that he realized that music was all he wanted to do.

n the early 2000’s XK had a medical emergency that suspended his music career for more than a decade. A few years later, one of the group members succumbed to an ongoing illness while XK and another member migrated to The USA, resulting in a split. In 2017, XK was ready to revisit the musical scene as a solo act and by this time had mastered his craft as a writer.

Since re-emerging, XK has had the opportunity to open for Spice, Anthony B and EarthKry on major shows across the USA. XK, who is self-managed under his label, Dubplate Express, describes his music as Reggae Soul. He draws his inspiration from everyday situations and lessons he learned while growing through life.

In May 2018 XKhraig released his single “Scroll Of Passion” which features Swagga King on the Never Give Up rhythm by PBR Productions. His next project, “Suzie” which was self-produced on his Dubplate Express Label made its way to streaming sites on 13;November 21, 2018.

“Hard Life” hit the shelves on December 23, 2018 which was also self-produced. Working tirelessly to become a household name XKhraig is also working on his debut album titled “At The Door” which will feature a broad range of musical influences and styles including Roots Reggae, Pop and Soul.
