True Visionary
A clear, distinct and specific vision of the future, by definition, is Visionary. Dubbed as “an artist to watch” Mr. Michael Thompson is otherwise known as Visionary. This multi-faceted artist is a: singer, songwriter, author and musician. His primary love has always been singing and as such has focused on his artistry as a Reggae artist. Visionary brings a soulful, educational and spiritual sound to the music world. His uplifting
and inspirational message is rooted in Lovers Rock and Roots Rock Reggae with traces of Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, and Country.
As a youth, Visionary was inspired to become a musician by the legendary Joseph Hill. Visionary states, “Hill came and performed at the All Age School that I attended in Jamaica. His entire performance was the best I have ever seen live. The lyrics of his songs are still engraved in my head. Many years later, I still aspire to write great songs like the profound lyricists of then and now. I believe it’s my calling from the Higher Power.” Following his belief in the Higher Power, he continues to write, produce and perform impactful music. Visionary emphasizes, “Knowing that my music has helped uplift some of my fans through difficult moments in their lives, fuels my quest to continue to make music and be a light in the midst of someone’s storm.”
Visionary also believes in giving back to the community. Having worked on numerous charitable events, from feeding the poor to helping provide supplies such as: text books, uniforms, and any other needed materials for underprivileged students, he has made a positive impact for many children across the globe. With several albums and collaborations under his belt, Visionary’s first album ‘Good Works’ (2004) is still making waves along with ‘Look to the Hills’ (2005), ‘Brace Yourself’ (2007) produced by: Studio One Legend Willi Williams; ‘The Best of Visionary’ (2010), ‘Grassroots’ (2014) produced by Grammy award winning producer: Barry O’Hare and Juno nominated producer: Ernie Trelfall of Reflex Studio; along with several singles like ‘Critical Time’ (2014) ‘It’s You’ (2015) ‘Stop’ (2017)and ‘Me A Watch You’ (2018) to name a few hits. Visionary has also written ‘The Hidden Agenda of Reggae Music’, an eye-opening book about the Reggae Music industry. Visionary has entertained countless crowds of fans over the years; his journeys have opened up opportunities for him to perform for luminary such as Jamaican’s Prime minister’s wife the Honorable Juliette Holness MP. He has also performed in the Caribbean, Europe, United States, South America and Africa with a list of growing locations. Visionary has
had the opportunity in sharing the stage with: Maxi Priest, Beres Hammond, John Holt, Third World, Willi Williams, George Nooks, R&B crooner Regina Belle, Dorothy Moore, and many more.
Presently, Visionary is venturing on a world tour to promot his new single entitled “STOP” ( on the Taxi Riddim). Visionary created a timeless piece that can be played whenever hope is require it is addressing what’s going on in the world right now! Visionary aspires to continue to write influential lyrics, he intends to share his melodious, conscious, and relevant music to listeners worldwide.
