The Teacher’s Back: Even across the “Horizon”

The Teacher’s Back: Even across the “Horizon”, the impact of Adijah Palmer is as powerful as it has ever been and is truly unstoppable with todays album release: King of the Dancehall

It seems mind blowing that that it was only in April 2014 – Kartel had been sentenced to 35 years prison time for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Thompson.

Yet one year into his sentence, in March 2015 we saw the Gaza general release  ‘Viking’ (Vybz is King) with the epic ode ‘Dancehall’ anthem as it’s first release. On March 28, 2015, that album shot straight up to #3 On US Billboard Reggae Album Chart (the same week that Protoje climbed to peak position at #1 with ‘Ancient Future’.

In a press release to the media in April, Kartel states:

“King of the Dancehall” is not a 14 song compilation, it’s a masterpiece, an album that encompasses the very essence of Adidja Palmer and by extension, The Jamaican experience.”

In a year of dancehall imitators penetrating the charts worldwide (think Rhianna, Drake and Justin Beiber, that statement by the King of the Dancehall promises to ring true and prove to be as controversial and thought provoking a hardcore Dancehall album as every other record the self proclaimed Gaza Don has put before. Sorry Babe, but you won’t find any ‘tropical house’ lurking around here.

King of the Dancehall which is already at #3 in the UK iTunes Reggae Album chart is released digitally worldwide today, June 10 2016 and is available on iTunes for £7.99 in the UK.
