International Singjay Reggae Artiste, X-amount is popping with style & rhythm; unique blends of Roots Reggae, Lovers Rock, and Dancehall under the umbrella of one sound. Born Gus Knight, III hailing from New York presently Kingston, Jamaica based, X-amount has received positive feedback from a plethora of social and physical media platforms throughout the world.
An introduction to Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, and Gregory Isaacs by his father at an early age paved the way for his musical career decision and set a solid foundation for him. He received his name “X-amount” through divine intervention, realizing that help from a higher power could enable him to do greater things with his music beyond his wildest imagination. X-amount is known among his peers and family to sustain a diversity of talent, which ranges from song writing, music production, audio engineering, fashion designing and graphics.
As a recent graduate of Full Sail University, X-amount holds an Associate Degree of Science within the Audio Production program along with Valedictorian status. When asked about his musical career and development, his response states: “Reggae music allows me to express myself in a creative way while connecting with my West Indian heritage and passion… it gives me a platform to bring a message that promotes social justice and change. I desire to reach and connect to the hearts and souls of my listeners.” His ambitions thus far, has proven successful. On numerous occasions his fan base has communicated how relatable his songs are to their everyday life.
The International artiste has been active in the music industry for over 8 years and has been performing locally throughout Jamaica and abroad. X-amount has taken his stance in Reggae and Dancehall while opening various stage shows with King Yellowman, Lady Saw (now Marion Hall), Elephant Man, Vanessa Bling, Macka Diamond and Baby Cham amongst others. Aside from stage performances and social likeable appearances, X-amount strongly advocates for the improvement of social communities, especially those that are disadvantaged. He explains that he is extremely passionate when called upon to empower the youth.
With a diverse catalog of music, X-amount is certainly creating a frenzy within Jamaica and internationally. He is notably recognized for music singles like, “Life U Choose” (Mega Hits International Records) and VP Records release, “Lifetime Survivor” (Weedy G). From his current 7 song EP, he brings you, “Reggae Music,” on which X-amount gives thanks to his father for his musical influence while paying respect to the legends present and past. Written and produced by the artiste, he embraces positive vibes with this infectious Roots Reggae Anthem.
Although his name is commonly used in a phrase, he has made it clear to the world that there are no limitations or boundaries to his musical creative process.
