EARLY YEARS

Carey James, born September 24, 1989 in Jamaica’s second city of Montego Bay, St. James, has been in love with music from as long as he can remember. He started pursuing music actively when he got the opportunity to play drums at church during his teenage years. This transformed into composing instrumentals while still in high school and he has been developing all aspects of his music since then.

MUSICAL JOURNEY

Carey has made huge strides in his quest for musical greatness, venturing into audio engineering after his studies at the University of the West Indies.

He moved on to being a part of a duo known as Pondemik Jamaica that saw them working three years together and releasing four singles that did fairly well. In summer 2017 he decided to embark on a solo career, and thus The Carey James was born.

His music is generally focused on personal experiences and The Carey James hopes that these experiences will serve as motivation to others. So far he has released the track March Out featuring Vershon, a song that encourages us all to make a stand and march out against injustices.

Carey is currently working to release his first solo mixtape titled ‘Save Me’, slated for release in January 2020. He recently released the first track from the mixtape ‘Uptown Tenement Yard’ which takes a critical look at the issue of housing for students and young professionals in Kingston, Jamaica. The single is currently in heavy rotation in Europe and parts of the United States as well as him homeland Jamaica.
