Introducing SHARI – A new talented Artiste par excellence, from Jamaica. Having completed her latest single – “I Want You”, SHARI is poised to impact the music industry with her sumptuously unique sound. The eldest of three children for her now deceased parents – SHARI born Sharlet Cockren, began to wow audiences with her incredible voice at a tender age of 9, singing as a soloist in the Adventist Church in Morant Bay, St. Thomas. SHARI’s superb talent soon spread to the community where she was consistently in demand to perform at weddings, parties, school functions and funerals etc. – A star was born…
An orphan at age 15, SHARI found herself distraught, alone and scared, but knew she had to be strong not only for herself, but for her younger siblings, who were now looking to her for support. This new frightening reality didn’t daunt her usually cheerful spirit, instead SHARI dug deep into her mental fortitude and overcame the obstacles that appeared insurmountable. As time evolved her singing and writing skills matured. SHARI became
more deeply attached to her music, and developed a greater passion and love for singing and performing.
In the year 2000 SHARI moved to Montego Bay and began working as a Telemarketer/Collection Agent for Sprint, and also as a part time model. Her modelling career spiked when she was featured in the Weekend STAR on Friday, June 18, 2004. The article highlighted among other things, that to maintain her stunning look SHARI eats healthy, dances for exercise and gets enough sleep. While this period was dominated by her modelling career, SHARI continued to work on her music. In 2001 SHARI had her first and only child – This bundle of joy and number 1 fan brought new meaning to her life, and has remained the chief motivation, propelling her to achieving greatness.
SHARI migrated to Kingston in 2005 and immediately placed her musical career at the top of the priority list. In 2006 she began working at a utility company as a trainee in HR, and was appointed in 2007 to the Commercial Operations. In 2009, SHARI pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.
During all these happenings, SHARI was not giving up on her first love – music. She recorded a couple of singles and has been working to perfect her talent. And wow! The talent is now ripe and hot. Her soulful voice skillfully caressing the melodies, along with her pervasive smile, friendly demeanour and model-like body synchronizing
with metronomic consistency, are bound to have you wanting more of her music. Having written and recorded the single “I Want You” The sophisticated, curvaceous heart throb – SHARI, has made a suave entrance in the music industry, and wants to take you along on a magical journey consuming every drop of her soulful songs. “I Want You” was released on Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2018 which is part of her first studio album currently being worked on, to be released early next year. The music video for “I Want You” was completed in June 2018. So cherchez la femme SHARI on the local and international music radar as she will be burning up your television screens, exciting your ears and thrilling a concert stage in a town near you.
