REGGAE FANS: Roger, Roly and Rolf really enjoyed Errol Renaud and Caribbean Soul

Bob Marley Festival cements its place as an annual event in Mudgee, Austraila

Reggae fans had a ball at the recent Bob Marley Festival in Kandos. Three top bands – the Macquarie River Mud Flappers, Joe Tee’s Afrodisa, and Errol Renaud’s Caribbean Soul played from midday until dark and had everyone calling for more.

Sue Honeysett from Kandos Events said she was really pleased because over 50 per cent of the crowd were visitors to Kandos.

“It was so exciting to see so many people here from other places. That’s how the event will grow. Later that night, there was a band at three different venues in town and they were all well supported.”

She said everyone loved the bands.

“It just shows that people will travel for something special like this. A lot of them said they’ll be back next year with more friends.”

Mrs Honeysett said it was a bit disappointing that some people opted not to contribute the $10 entry to help provide the entertainment and infrastructure costs. She said that all money raised on the day goes into funding the event.

“Next year we’ll be looking at another venue – possibly the Kandos Sportsground, which will have better facilities and the ability to control the gate. But we’ll definitely be continuing with the annual event in March each year. I just know it’s going to get bigger and better,” she said.

Mrs Honeysett issued a big thank you to everyone who came along and all the sponsors for their great support.

“I’d like to thank Kingsgate Consolidated Ltd, Mid-Western Regional Council, the Kandos Hotel, the Rylstone-Kandos Business and Tourism Association, Kandos IGA, Kuchta Pty Ltd, Maceco, Henbury Sport and Recreation Club and Sibelco.”
